Brenda Mae Tarpley, 11 December , Lithonia, Georgia, USA. Even in early adolescence, Lee had an adult husk of a voice that could slip from anguished intimacy through sleepy insinuation to raucous lust, even during ‘Let’s Jump The Broomstick’, ‘Speak To Me Pretty’ and other jaunty classics that kept her in the hit parade from the mids to

Unlike some of Brenda's more popular earlier pop/rock orientated discs these tracks show the sheer versitility of her voice and artistry. It is criminal that the record companies and Brenda can't come to an amicable agreement about payment, and release some more of these fantastic and grossly under-rated tracks - like so many of the melody based recordings from the mid/late /5(28).

A very pleasant recording from Brenda Lee touching on her Country And Western roots. She recorded many vinyl releases of Country Music that sadly have never been released on CD. Hopefully this will change in the near future because Brenda Lee is deserving of her entire C&W catalog being released on cd/5(18).
