The Brain Police were one of the relatively few psychedelic groups to emerge from San Diego in the late '60s, recording an unreleased album and single in before splitting up. They played pretty average, if competent, psychedelic period rock with hard rock and baroque pop influences.

I'm not sure what it is about San Diego, but it seems to have been a hotbed of psychedelia in the late 60's, spawning two of my favorite psych bands: Iron Butterfly and The Brain Police. The latter's only LP, virtually off the scale in terms of rarity, is among the best psych LP's ever released.

Icelandic stoner rockers Brain Police truly arrived (in their homeland, at least) with this, their second full album (but first since admitting new singer Jens Ólafsson into the fold), and its pair of breakout hits, including the local number one, "Jacuzzi Suzy." Originally unleashed on the quartet's Master Brain EP, the song was tacked onto the end of Brain Police -- the album.

The Brain Police's sole LP, actually a demo disc in a plain sleeve made with the intention of attracting label interest, is fair but unexceptional local gratanasypittourpaypeclibipanpau.coinfo's one of those records without any serious flaws, but also without any seriously exceptional properties to compel cult interest (although, obviously, it got some cult interest, as it eventually got reissued on CD with bonus 6/
